Camp Kingfisher - Counselor & Specialist

Seasonal, Full-Time: May 22, 2008 - August 1, 2008
Salary: $2400-$3300 DOE
Position Description: Supervising groups of young children (grades K - 9) in an outdoor setting. Developing and implementing environmental education activities on a daily basis, program resources provided. Handling captive wildlife used daily in camp programs. Rotating coverage of after-care programs once a week. Attending weekly camp staff meetings. Working with other staff and volunteers as a team. We are always looking for energetic, dedicated staff members to bring love and laughter into our camp. Salary: DOE. All positions provide paid training.
Camp Description: The Chattahoochee Nature Center is a private, non-profit environmental education facility located in Roswell, Georgia. Our mission is to promote appreciation and understanding of the natural environment. Camp Kingfisher is an environmental education day camp. All sessions focus on environmental science education, mixed in with traditional camp activities such as canoeing, swimming, and arts & crafts. We offer elective skills classes, daily wildlife interaction, professional musical entertainment, and 127 acres of beautiful nature.
Qualifications: Experience teaching or working with children, comfortable in an outdoor setting. Background in environmental education , natural history, education, child care or camps. Willingness to handle captive wildlife, training provided. Current tetanus shot or willingness to obtain one. Current First Aid/CPR certification, course provided.
