WILDERNESS FIRST AID
The Wilderness Safety Council is offering Wilderness First Aid classes from NY to NC this year. The normal cost for Wilderness First Aid is $200. We are offering several classes at a reduced rate of $160 to summer camps:
May 29-30: Baltimore, MD
May 15-16: Greensboro, NC (Hagan Stone Park)
June 1-2: Reidsville, NC (Betsy-Jeff Penn Camp)
May 18-19: Richmond, VA (Camp Hanover)

Wilderness First Responder
On Site: Learning Outdoors
Wilderness First Responder: Saturday May 1st – Sunday May 9th, 8:30AM – 5PM with one late night, $595 Members & non-Members, This course, in partnership with Solo Schools, is the recognized industry standard for those who work as backcountry trip leaders, camp counselors and students in outdoor recreational programs. The 72-hour curriculum includes standards for urban and extended-care situations. This course is designed specifically to provide you with the tools to make critical medical and evacuation decisions in remote locations. Half of your time will be spent completing practical skills, case studies and scenarios designed to challenge your decision-making abilities. Ages 16 – Adult, Pre-Registration Required. Wilderness First Aid

Wilderness First Aid: Saturday May 15th and Sunday May 16th, 8:30AM – 5:30PM both days, $149 Members & non-Members, This course, in partnership with Solo Schools, provides entry-level training for outdoor enthusiasts to prepare themselves for outdoor trips. Topics covered range from preparation and prevention to assessment and treatment. All of our instructors have extensive outdoor experience and have been selected not only for their expertise in emergency medicine and rescue, but also for their teaching skills. WFA is a two-year certification that does not include CPR. American Heart Association (AHA) HeartSaver CPR is an optional extra that can be taken on the evening of day one. Wilderness First Responder Recertification
On Site: Learning Outdoors
Wilderness First Responder Recertification: Saturday May 22nd and Sunday May 23rd, 8:30AM – 5:30PM both days, $164 Members & non-Members, This course, in partnership with Solo Schools, is an intensive two-day class specially designed for people who have completed WFR, whose certification is due to expire or will expire within one month of the date shown on the card. Taking the WFR Recertification will bring you up to date with all new wilderness protocols and refresh your memory on standard WFR curriculum. American Heart Association (AHA) HeartSaver CPR, valid for two years, can be taken on the evening of the first day (5:30pm-7:30pm) at an additional charge of $35. Wilderness Survival Course
On Site: Learning Outdoors
Wilderness Survival: Saturday June 5th and Sunday June 6th, 8:30AM – 5:30PM both days, Ages 16 - Adult, $140 Pre-Registration Required, Whether you're planning to audition for an episode of Survivor or just want to improve your wilderness aptitude, this workshop is bound to be an exciting weekend! We'll spend some time in the classroom, but the bulk of our learning will take place in scenarios on the grounds of the Chattahoochee Nature Center. Topics will include: Making a Plan: food, water, fire, shelter - Water: collection, purification and filtration - Food: trapping, edible plants and cooking methods - Fire: wood, location, one match fire and Flint & Steel - Shelter: location and examples - Calling for Help: basic signaling and leaving notes or signs - Building Survival Kits
