This year's conference theme is "Back to Our Roots" and that is just we are doing! We are heading to the mountains to enjoy fall in North Carolina. The conference will host an array of educational offerings, keynote speakers, and exhibitors that will inspire and motivate as we reflect on the recent summer and look forward to the future.
We are excited to be hosting Gary Forster at our conference this year! Gary has a long history with camp and most recently was awarded the ACA, New England Peter Kerns Award 2010 for development of camp professionals and the added to the YMCA "Legends of Camping" Hall of Fame in 2010. Gary has worked with the staff and volunteers at more than 200 camps in 43 states, just since 2001. Previously he served 18 years as executive of Camp Jewell YMCA(CT), past summer program director and property manager of Camp Tecumseh (IN), and holds an M.S. in Management from Purdue University and B.A. in Architecture from Kent State. Gary will be sharing some insights with us this year during the EPIC Pre-Conference opportunity, at a keynote on Tuesday, as well as during education sessions throughout the conference.
Also joining us this year is Kim Aycock. Kim has 20+ years in year-round and seasonal summer camp positions and as a middle/high school and college level educator. She has worked with numerous camps in various geographic locations. Kim is an effective teacher in both the classroom and outdoor setting, has led numerous staff training workshops, guiding camp staff to work with children, and has presented keynote/educational sessions at regional and national conferences. Kim presents with sensitivity, creativity, and enthusiasm and has the ability to connect with and motivate learners of all ages.
Kim will be providing our opening keynote on Monday, October 4th and will provide several educational sessions throughout the conference as well.
