NEWS TO USE!  Election Results!

ACA SOUTHEASTERN Board of Directors Election Results!  Thanks to the many of you who took the time to vote and mail in your ballot! The response was great! Those individuals newly elected to the board are:  Tony Oyenarte - President-Elect; Genie Gunn – Vice President; Dan Mathews – Treasurer; Judith Bevan – Secretary (1 year term); Teresa Tucker – South Carolina District Chair; Krys Ragland – Florida District Chair; David Bell – Council of Delegate (1 year term).  Welcome to all of the new board members!  A complete board listing will be posted on the website in the near future!

HELP US CELERATE!  Many of your know Marge Scanlin and of her many contributions to ACA as both a volunteer and long-time staff members.  After serving on the ACA staff for 26 years, Marge has decided to retire at the end of this year.  One of the “recognitions” being made for Marge is a quilt with patches from as many ACA camps as possible stitched onto it. If you have not year sent the Section office your patch, please do so NOW!  Those can be mailed to:  3308 Durham Chapel Hill Blvd, Ste 101 , Durham , NC 27707 .  We must have them by December 20. And… shhh – this is a surprise for Marge.

WHEN DO I HAVE TO MEET THE REVISED STANDARDS?  This is question many camp directors have been asking.  Here is the official word: The new/ revised standards go into effect in 2007 for those camps due a visit in 2007.  Camps should immediately begin a transition to new standards; however, the Annual Statement of Compliance holds a camp accountable to the standards under which they were last visited.  All future visitations will be based upon the new/revised standards.

ACA Southeastern is hosting both Standards Courses for those camps due a visit in 2007 and Visitor Updates so we will have the necessary volunteers trained in the revised standards.  Camps due a visit in 2007 are given their NEW Accreditation Process Guide at the Standards Course (as are visitors at the Visitor Update).  As you can imagine, setting courses to train individuals from 85 camps and over 100 visitors is quite a task. Thanks to our Standards Co-Chairs ( Gayle Taylor and Alf Ferreira) and Instructors (Judith Bevan, Genie Gunn , Diane Dicerbo , Norman McGee, Cliff Satterwhite, Brooke Bradley, Alf and Gayle) for helping make this possible.  The section has several other instructors who have not yet had the opportunity to go through the update… we know they will be joining the above list soon!

FREE BREAKFAST!  Yes, once again, ACA Southeastern will be hosting a Section Breakfast at the National Conference. Many thanks to Nancy Diamond with Niche Directories for sponsoring this breakfast.  It will be held Wednesday morning, February 14. The exact time and room will be announced soon!
