Spring is here...
...the redbuds are in beautiful bloom and I know that means that summer is just around the corner. This is the time of year I was in high gear – trying to get everything done before camp staff started arriving!  I knew that if it wasn’t done by then, the chances of it getting done were slim. If you are in that mode – best of luck! And, please do remember to take at least a few minutes for yourself!  And now, take a minute to read a few reminders/updates from the ACA Southeastern Office:

New Menbership Services Coordinator
Please welcome Pamela Allen as our new Membership Services Coordinator!  Pamela comes to ACA Southeastern from the Girl Scouts and has a great passion for camp. She has been involved with camping for many years, is a recently trained Accreditation visitor and will be a great asset to our Section. April 5 will be Pamela’s first day.  Her email address will be Pamela@acasoutheastern.org

Your Input is Important
Please take 10-15 minutes to complete the Educational Needs Assessment Survey being conducted by ACA National.  This information will help both National and the Sections in providing more relevant educational opportunities and venues for everyone. You can access this survey at:  http://www.acacamps.org/research/.  As of today, less than 10% of ACA Southeastern members had completed this survey. If you are a part of that 10% - THANKS!

MySpace.com
I don’t think I have gone for more than two days in a row without hearing or reading about this Web site.  A college student’s laptop computer was seized by the FBI for information on his site… and the stories are many.  Chances are, your camp staff and campers have a page on this or a similar site.  What should you know? What might you do?  Check out  http://www.acacamps.org/inside/06_03/relevant.php for some good information and be watching for additional information regarding this “hot issue” in the near future.

US Airways Unaccompanied Minors Policy
If you have campers that use air transportation to get to/from camp, please remind your camp parents that US AIR no longer allows unaccompanied minors make “connections.”  They can only fly from point A to point B – no transfers.  ACA at both the Section and National level are exploring how we might impact this policy. Comments from the public concerning this policy is one way an impact MIGHT be made.

Call for Presenters!
We are searching for great programs  for the ACA Southeastern Camping Conference!  Please check out the conference Web site for information about this and other aspects of our conference!  It will be an event you won’t want to miss!

Need Staff Trained?
Make sure you check out the listing of trainings being offered on the Section Web site. New ones are posted weekly!

Attention Accreditation Visitors
Visitor assignments will be made in early April with notification letters being sent shortly thereafter. If your camp is due a visit in 2006 and you have NOT received a letter letting you know who your visitors will be by April 15, please contact the Section office.  If you are a visitor and have not received your “assignments” by that date, please do the same.
